Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule and allowing me to tell you my story.

My grandmother is primarily responsible for my love of trees. Nana loved to work in her yard and she made sure I tagged along from the time I could walk. I thank God for Nana.

Trees are not just my career, they are my passion. I believe working with trees is my calling. Just as pastors, teachers, police officers, firefighters, and doctors are called to their profession, I am called to be an arborist. For as long as I remember, trees fascinated and intrigued me. I wanted to know all about them.

I began my professional career as a landscaper for Basnight Land & Lawn in Chesapeake, VA. In 1995, I moved from Virginia to Goldsboro, NC in pursuit of a Forest Management degree. I worked for a tree service company while in college. In 1997, I graduated from Wayne Community College (the top 10% of my class). Upon graduation, I worked briefly in timber procurement before being hired as Orchard Manager for North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS). I spent over 16 years with the NCFS, serving in Sampson, Chatham, Johnston, and Chowan counties. Along the way, I became an ISA certified arborist with a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification, an initial member of an interstate Urban Forest Strike Team, and attended the Municipal Foresters Institute. In 2016 the City of Raleigh hired me as the Tree Planting Coordinator. After 18 months, they promoted me to Urban Forestry Inspector.  The move to Raleigh allowed me the opportunity to begin my own consulting business and begin sharing my tree knowlwdge and experience with others, such as you.
